Hotel and Lodge WiFi in South Africa

Hotels in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban, guesthouses and B&Bs on the Garden Route, game lodges near Kruger and in the bush, and student and staff residences: a login per room or voucher, a fair share of the line, a backup link for outages, and remote management by iberry.

Built for outages and long distances

Lodges and country guesthouses often run on a single fixed-wireless or LTE link, and power cuts take routers down with them. Keep the router and access points on a UPS or inverter; the router keeps its own login page so guests are not stranded when the cloud link drops, and a second link takes over automatically where you have one.

Each room or voucher gets its own speed and data limit, so one guest's video call does not use the whole lodge's link.

Rules to check in South Africa

Electronic communications and equipment type approval are regulated by ICASA; personal information such as guest names and phone numbers falls under POPIA, overseen by the Information Regulator. iberry keeps only what the login needs. Guest session records with iberry are held in India - check with your adviser whether that suits your property before you rely on it.

How we deliver outside India

1. Plan

You send the site layout, the number of rooms or users and your internet line. We design the network and the login: vouchers, SMS OTP if an SMS route to your mobile networks is confirmed, or room-and-surname login if your PMS can be reached.

2. Hardware

We arrange the MikroTik router and access points through a local vendor in your country, so there is no import and no customs delay. If a model is not available locally we ship it from India through our shop wifishop.in; only then do customs duty and import taxes apply, quoted per order.

3. Install

A local electrician or IT partner fits the cabling and access points to our plan, with us on a WhatsApp or video call.

4. Remote setup and support

The router connects to the iberry cloud over an encrypted tunnel. We configure the hotspot, login page and limits remotely, then monitor it and make changes for you. Support is in English, by WhatsApp, phone and email; guest session records are held in India.

Frequently asked questions

What WiFi works for a game lodge in South Africa?

A MikroTik router on a UPS, outdoor access points for the chalets, voucher or room login with per-guest limits, and a second link (LTE or fixed wireless) if one is available. We manage it remotely.

Can guests pay for WiFi by card on the login page?

Not today. Vouchers sold at reception or by agents work from the first day.
