Resort and Guesthouse WiFi in the Maldives

Island resorts, water villas, liveaboards and guesthouses on local islands such as Maafushi, Thulusdhoo, Dhigurah and Fulidhoo: the internet link to the island is the costliest part, so every guest gets a fair share of it, staff traffic is kept apart, and the network is watched remotely by iberry.

When the island link is the bottleneck

On an island the backhaul - fibre where it reaches, otherwise a microwave or satellite link - sets the ceiling for everyone. Without limits, a few guests uploading videos or running backups fill it, and the whole resort feels slow. With iberry each villa or voucher has its own speed and device limit, staff and back-of-house traffic is on its own network, and you can see what is using the link at any time.

Where a second link exists (for example a mobile-data router as backup), the router switches to it automatically. More on the design in WiFi for island resorts.

What we set up

🏝️

Per-villa login

Villa number and surname through the PMS, or a QR voucher per booking, ending at checkout.

📡

Fair use of the backhaul

Speed caps per guest and per network, with more for premium villas if you sell it.

👷

Staff networks

Separate staff and staff-quarters WiFi with their own limits, so guest service is not crowded out.

🛥️

Liveaboards

Voucher WiFi on board with data caps sized to the boat's link.

Rules to check in the Maldives

Telecommunications and radio equipment are regulated by the Communications Authority of Maldives (CAM). Check the current requirements for equipment and for keeping guest data with your adviser. Guest session records with iberry are held in India - check with your adviser whether that suits your property before you rely on it.

How we deliver outside India

1. Plan

You send the site layout, the number of rooms or users and your internet line. We design the network and the login: vouchers, SMS OTP if an SMS route to your mobile networks is confirmed, or room-and-surname login if your PMS can be reached.

2. Hardware

We arrange the MikroTik router and access points through a local vendor in your country, so there is no import and no customs delay. If a model is not available locally we ship it from India through our shop wifishop.in; only then do customs duty and import taxes apply, quoted per order.

3. Install

A local electrician or IT partner fits the cabling and access points to our plan, with us on a WhatsApp or video call.

4. Remote setup and support

The router connects to the iberry cloud over an encrypted tunnel. We configure the hotspot, login page and limits remotely, then monitor it and make changes for you. Support is in English, by WhatsApp, phone and email; guest session records are held in India.

Frequently asked questions

Is there good WiFi at resorts in the Maldives?

It depends on the island's link and how the resort shares it. Resorts that give each villa its own login with a fair speed limit, and keep staff traffic separate, stay usable even when the link is modest.

Can a guesthouse on a local island use iberry?

Yes. A small MikroTik router and one or two access points with QR vouchers per room is enough; we manage it remotely.

How is the hardware supplied in the Maldives?

Usually through a vendor in Malé, so there is no import; we configure it remotely. If a model is not available locally we ship it from India through wifishop.in.

Resort or guesthouse in the Maldives?

Tell us the island, the number of villas or rooms and the link you have. See also hotel WiFi in South Asia. Outside India every project is quoted on its own: the hardware (usually supplied through a local vendor in your country, so there is no import) and the yearly remote management. Published India plans start at ₹30,000 one-time with ₹15,000 a year, as a guide to scale.
