Hotspot Billing Software for Uganda

For WiFi hotspot businesses, hotels, guest houses, schools and hostels in Kampala, Entebbe, Jinja, Mbarara and Gulu: vouchers with time, speed and data limits, sales per agent and records of every session, run from the cloud on MikroTik equipment.

How to start a WiFi hotspot business in Uganda

1. Pick a busy site

Trading centres, hostels near universities, markets, taxi parks and estates - places where people spend time and mobile data runs out.

2. Get a dependable line

Fibre or fixed wireless from a licensed provider that allows shared use; a second, smaller line with automatic failover protects your income.

3. Router and access points

A MikroTik hotspot router and outdoor or indoor access points, with a UPS or battery for power cuts. Shipped from India or bought in Kampala.

4. Packages and agents

Hourly, daily and weekly vouchers with speed caps, sold by shops and agents who keep a commission.

5. Billing

Cloud billing that makes voucher batches per agent, enforces limits and shows sales per site - this is what iberry runs for you.

Mobile money

Payment by MTN MoMo or Airtel Money on the login page itself is not built into the platform today. What works from the first day is the way most hotspots already sell: vouchers sold for cash or mobile money by your agents, shop counter or front desk.

Rules to check in Uganda

Providing internet access to the public may need authorisation from the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), which also type-approves communications equipment. Customer phone numbers and records are personal data under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019. Confirm what your business needs before launch; we set up the records to match.

How we deliver outside India

1. Plan

You send the site layout, the number of rooms or users and your internet line. We design the network and the login: vouchers, SMS OTP if an SMS route to your mobile networks is confirmed, or room-and-surname login if your PMS can be reached.

2. Hardware

We ship the router, access points and switches from India through our shop wifishop.in, or you buy the same MikroTik, TP-Link Omada or Ubiquiti UniFi models from a local distributor. Shipping, customs duty and import taxes are quoted per order.

3. Install

A local electrician or IT partner fits the cabling and access points to our plan, with us on a WhatsApp or video call.

4. Remote setup and support

The router connects to the iberry cloud over an encrypted tunnel. We configure the hotspot, login page and limits remotely, then monitor it and make changes for you. Support is in English, by WhatsApp, phone and email; guest session records are held in India.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best hotspot billing system in Uganda?

Look for voucher batches per agent, speed and data limits per package, sales per site, a branded login page and nothing to host yourself. iberry provides these as a managed service on MikroTik; payment by MoMo on the login page is not built in, so vouchers are sold by agents.

How much does it cost to start a hotspot business in Uganda?

It depends on the area covered: a router, a few access points, power backup, cabling and an internet line for a small site; more access points and a faster line for an estate or campus. We quote the hardware (shipped from India or bought locally) and the managed billing per project.

Do you work with schools and hotels in Uganda?

Yes: personal logins with data caps for students, vouchers or room logins for hotel guests, and records of who used the connection.

Planning hotspots in Uganda?

Tell us the town, the sites and the line you can get. See hotspot billing across Africa and how to start a WiFi hotspot business. Outside India every project is quoted on its own: the hardware (shipped from India or bought locally), shipping and import duties, and the yearly remote management. Published India plans start at ₹30,000 one-time with ₹15,000 a year, as a guide to scale.
