Cost Guide

How Much Does Hotel WiFi Cost?

A hotel WiFi quote is five separate costs added together. Here is what each one is, what drives it up or down, and iberry's published prices for the part we supply - so you can compare quotes line by line instead of by the total.

The five parts of a hotel WiFi cost

1. The internet line (monthly)

Bought from an internet provider, not from the WiFi company. It is usually the largest running cost. Size it to guests at peak, not to rooms: an evening with most rooms streaming needs far more than a quiet afternoon. A second, smaller line from a different provider is cheap insurance - see internet failover.

2. The gateway and guest login (one-time + yearly)

The router that runs the hotspot, the captive portal guests log in through, per-guest speed and data limits, the session records and the cloud platform behind it. This is the part iberry supplies, at a published price in India.

3. Access points (one-time)

How many depends on the building more than on the room count. Thick concrete or stone walls, long corridors and several floors need more; an open-plan resort needs outdoor units. A survey decides the number - be wary of any quote that gives a figure without one.

4. Cabling and switches (one-time)

Each access point needs a network cable back to a PoE switch, which also powers it. In a new or renovated building this is straightforward; in an older one the cost is in routing cable neatly through finished walls. See LAN and structured cabling.

5. Maintenance (yearly)

Someone has to watch the network, update the firmware, change the login page, fix a dead access point and answer when guests complain. This is the cost most often left out of a cheap quote, and the one that decides whether the WiFi still works in year three.

On every plan: monitoring, changes, updates and support.

The plan covers the survey, the router, its configuration, the captive portal and the cloud platform. Access points, switches and cabling depend on the building and are quoted after the survey, on standard MikroTik, TP-Link Omada or Ubiquiti UniFi hardware rather than a proprietary appliance. There is no per-guest or per-device licence. Full details on pricing.

What pushes the cost up - and what does not need to

Real cost drivers: the number of floors and the wall material, outdoor areas such as lawns, pools and banquet lawns, the number of guests online at the same time, and whether cabling has to be retrofitted into a finished building. Logging that meets Indian requirements and a link to your PMS are part of the platform, not expensive extras - see WiFi log compliance and PMS WiFi integration.

Things that should not add cost: a per-room or per-user licence fee, a proprietary gateway you must replace from one vendor when it fails, or a separate charge every time you want the login page changed. Ask every vendor about these three in writing.

If you already have WiFi

Most hotels that call us already have access points; the problem is that nobody manages them, guests share one password and the line is swamped. In that case the existing access points can often stay. We put a managed gateway in front of them, add per-guest logins and limits, and replace only what the survey shows is failing - which makes an upgrade cheaper than a new installation.

Frequently asked questions

How much does WiFi installation cost for a hotel in India?

iberry's published plans for the gateway, guest login and platform are ₹30,000 (30-40 rooms), ₹50,000 (40-60 rooms) and ₹99,000 (large and five-star), each with ₹15,000 yearly maintenance. Access points and cabling are added after a site survey because they depend on the building. The internet line is billed separately by your provider.

How much does hotel WiFi cost outside India?

Projects outside India are quoted individually. The access points and router are normally bought locally and fitted by a local installer to our plan; iberry configures and manages everything remotely. Send us the country, room count and floor plan.

Is there a monthly fee?

iberry charges a one-time plan price and ₹15,000 a year for maintenance in India, not a monthly per-room fee. Your internet provider bills the line monthly.

Do hotels charge guests for WiFi?

Most include it free. Some offer a free basic speed and a faster paid tier, or charge for WiFi in conference rooms and events. iberry supports free and paid vouchers side by side; payment is taken by the hotel at reception or with the booking.

How much does WiFi installation cost for a home?

Home broadband installation is charged by the internet provider and is a different service. This page is about hotels and businesses, where the cost is in coverage, guest logins, limits and records.

Want a quote you can compare line by line?

Send the number of rooms and floors, the wall type, outdoor areas and the internet line you have. Published plans in India: ₹30,000 one-time for 30-40 rooms, ₹50,000 for 40-60 rooms and ₹99,000 for large and five-star hotels, each with ₹15,000 yearly maintenance. Outside India every project is quoted on its own, because the hardware is usually bought locally.
